The brief for this competition was to create a series of cabins for any hikers to utilize along the Amber Road on the coast of Latvia.

Our goal was to design a shelter that was iconic and modern, but also a shelter that felt like it evolved from the history of Latvia.  We started with the shape of a typical cabin, that we then shifter to create space that was higher off the ground.  This new shape is modern, but with traditional roots.  Each shelter would be clad in either wood or thatch, depending on the context of the site.
